Consort Express Lines donates containers to support coffee farmers and communities in Morobe

Lae, Papua New Guinea | 10 July 2026

Consort Express Lines has donated two 20-foot refrigerated shipping containers to the Tree Kangaroo Conservation Program to support coffee farmers and remote communities within Morobe Province’s YUS Conservation Area.

The non-operating reefer containers remain secure and suitable for storage and will be placed at the North Coast Aviation site at Nadzab. They will provide much-needed storage capacity for coffee and other locally produced goods before they are transported to market.

The Tree Kangaroo Conservation Program is a Lae-based nonprofit organisation that works with communities to support the conservation of wildlife and forests on Papua New Guinea’s Huon Peninsula. Itswork also supports sustainable livelihoods and economic opportunities for communities living within theYUS Conservation Area.

Access to secure storage at Nadzab will assist local farmer groups with the aggregation of their produce, improve product handling and help connect remote communities with broader markets.

Consort Express Lines General Manager – Marine Logistics, Alistair Skingley, said the donation provided anopportunity to extend the useful life of equipment while supporting an important community initiative.

“Although these containers are no longer suitable for our normal shipping operations, theyremain secure and can provide practical value as storage facilities. We are pleased that theywill now support coffee farmers and communities in the YUS Conservation Area.”

Consort’s Lae depot team prepared and released the two containers, with delivery to Nadzab coordinatedthrough EastWest Transport on 10 July 2026.

The initiative reflects Consort’s commitment to supporting organisations and communities working tocreate sustainable social, economic and environmental outcomes across Papua New Guinea.
