Chocolate Festival in Kieta 2016

Consort had a presence at the inaugural Autonomous Region Of Bougainville (AROB) chocolate festival on the 5th July in Buin & 6th July in Arawa town.
This was an opportunity to market Consort not only to the visiting chocolate manufacturers in the Asia Pacific region, but also to the local community of exporters who currently ship with Consort Rabaul and Lae. With only one other shipper offering services to Buka, Arawa and Buin, the representation of our services was widely acknowledged and further follow up will continue with the clientele introduced to during the festival. During the festival it was noted that the seven of the cocoa buyers registered will not be looking at big uplifts in the next several months until further clarifications with the Autonomous Region of Bougainville Government on exporting cocoa to Australia.

Several cocoa growers and exporters prefer good rates specifically for transshipments into Lae , which is an opportunity for expansion. The festival in Buin saw a crowd just fewer than 10 thousand visitors and a further six to seven thousand visitors in Arawa. Hosted with Aid from the Australian Government, the success of the festival will be determined by the ABG government and the PNG Government in their discussions in the next few months to waive certain exporting taxes that will no doubt give the growers some cushion to further drive the cocoa market in Bougainville.

Upon presentation of our Consort cap and shirt to the Deputy President of the ABG Government Hon. MP Patrick Nisira (First picture) he thanked Consort for the support not only to the festival but as well to assisting Bougainvillian’s throughout the years with shipping & logistics in the province.
